You are your biggest weakness

The things that make you absolutely magical and powerful are also the things that might bring you to your knees if not unchecked.

What do I mean by this?! Here are some examples of ways this has showed up recently with clients (and in myself.)

  • Being so sensitive and in tune with your audience (strength!) that you don’t feel comfortable raising your prices even though you haven’t raised them in years.

  • Being so decisive and tunnel visioned on your original goal (strength) that you aren’t open to expert feedback about what to shift to make it work better.

  • Wanting your team to feel supported and loved (strength!) but you have a hard time saying no or doing what is best for the business.

  • Being so devoted to the longevity of the business (strength) that you are making horrible business decisions in the present that will bite you in the ass later.

  • Wanting to preserve the peace so much that you struggle to bring up conflict and it eats away at you. (ahem, recovering people pleaser here.)

This is why it can be so important to have someone who can serve as a mirror for when your strengths are going unchecked and turning into weaknesses for your life or your business.

And it can’t be just anyone. This has to be someone you trust their expertise and business acumen. I love my husband to death and sometimes he is not the person I can go to check myself. Again with our families and friends sometimes they don’t know business enough to give sound advice. And sometimes we need a Come To Jesus that only someone who is an expert can give.

This is what ends up happening a lot in my Strategy Days. (Strategy Days are a deep dive 1/2 day intensive into the inner workings of someone’s business and we make big shifts to bring them to a more abundant and profitable place!) I start to see a pattern of what might be holding someone back and have to deliver the hard news that if that pattern doesn’t shift the things they want in their business won’t come to fruition.

Don’t we all need this!? It’s like walking around with food in your teeth! We all need that person to tell us the truth. What a shame to put all the effort into growing a business only to find that you were also working AGAINST that growth.

Women weren’t meant to do things in a silo anyway! We are communal beings- we are meant to grow things alongside each other!
