You are cursed!

“I left my 9-5 to work 24/7!”

“I can’t truly “clock out” for a vacation. I am always on!”

“I wear 10 different hats in the company”

“I work so hard without guaranteed pay”

Sister, I have been here. But I wish I could go back at coach my 25 year old workaholic self about this. THESE WERE SELF IMPOSED CURSES.

You wanna work less? Make a schedule and stick to it. (that’s really all it takes, I promise! If there is too much work for you to do, hire someone!) This is often one of the first things I do for clients is force them to stick to a schedule. It provides so much relief!

You can’t clock out for vacation? Delegate. Let go of control. Train someone in your job while you are gone. Turn your phone off. Leave your laptop at home. Close your business while you are gone, for all I care. You have choices!!

You wear 10 different hats in the company? That probably means you aren’t doing at least 5 of them very well. Your superpowers are your million dollar skillset. I wish I could tell my former self who was unloading pallets and assembling sewing machines motors all by myself that I could have easily hired for that job. But being badass at sales & operations was my superpower. I didn’t need to be elbow deep in machine grease.

You work without guaranteed pay? Well that part is true. Nothing is guaranteed. BUT if you have sales, then you should be paying yourself or you should know exactly when you will be able to. During Financial Deep Dives with my clients, 99% of the time if they aren’t paying themselves what they want, they don’t have a relationship with financial projections. And by that I mean, they aren’t letting the numbers tell THEM what to do. The financials literally tell me what you need to do without you even saying a word. Learn to listen to them! (or book a Deep Dive and I will teach you!)

Now I’m not saying Entrepreneurship is all sunshine and roses. It is definitely not for the faint of heart. We are built differently. We are freaks with a weird risk tolerance.

What I am saying is that if you feel “cursed” by something in your business. it pays to look at it and break that curse. Let me know in the comments what you feel cursed by in Entrepreneurship and I will show you how to break those curses in next week’s newsletter!
