in the end times... find your people

I don’t know about you but shit feels realll apocalyptic right now. It is so easy to get sucked into the tornado and get hopeless. Or to stick my head in the sand and disassociate. But I am resisting. I have to. For my mental health. For my kids. To have the energy to fight back!

As adrienne maree brown says "Imagination is one of the most powerful tools we have as organizers. We can see the world we want to create, and then we begin to move towards it." We HAVE to stay connected to a vision of the world we know we can create. And the one I envision is post-revolution, one that is rooted in peace and interconnectedness. One that is not centered around capitalism, white supremacy or war.

With that vision close to my heart, here is a list of the things I am inspired to do that create a direct impact in my immediate community.

TRADES: The small business community is hurting right now. I am hearing it from all industries and sizes. The economic instability is leaving people clenching their wallets waiting for the other shoe to drop. But that doesn’t mean we have to sit by waiting for them to come around. We can get creative about commerce that is not centered around dollar exchange. I have been doing SUCH incredible trades with women in my community and feel held in ways I might not necessarily splurge to support myself if I was paying cash. And I get to reciprocate that with business coaching. It is a win/win!

REGULAR HANGS: Two of my mom friends and I arranged a regular weekly hang where we all get together at one of our houses and let the kids run amok and make dinner together. It is literally life-giving. We all look forward to it and its WAY easier to parent in community. Somehow it is easier to feed 3 moms and 6 kids than it is to feed my 2 kids alone. Mom math. It truly feels like the way we are supposed to parent: in COMMUNITY!

ZOOMING OUT. WAY OUT: Tapping into spirituality and the interconnectedness of us all and universal conscienceness has been really grounding lately. I am loving the podcast The Telepathy Tapes. It is blowing my mind and again reminding me that humans and science are only beginning to know the extent of the magic that is happening in the world! Another incredible podcast is Where is My Mind. Both explore consciousness and will crack open what you thought was possible in this world.

I have also been exploring my Akashic Records. In my beginner understanding it is a place where all information about our soul’s past and future resides. It is the realm that holds the wisdom of the entire universe. It is the liminal space to receive wisdom from our guides, reveal our soul’s contracts to fulfill in this lifetime, connect with ancestors. It is also possible to access the “rooms” of our children’s souls. I have been learning so much about my kids journeys and what their purpose is in this lifetime, as well as mind-blowingly accurate information about the path I am on right now and incredible wisdom helping me make decisions in my daily life. It sounds so out there as I type but it has been absolutely eye opening. I cannot recommend it enough.

If you are feeling like “wtf are you talking about but also sounds incredible. Sign me up” then book a session here with my dear friend and reader who has absolutely knocked my socks off with the 3 readings I have had so far.

BORROWING: Borrowing is so underrated and a lost art! When people used to be close to our neighbors, borrowing from them seemed so normal! A cup of sugar, their apple picker, or whatever! I want to bring this back. When I lived in a really sweet four-plex community we had a shared google doc of all the things we all owned and could borrow from each other. We don’t ALL need to own a dehydrator, a tall ladder, a pickling kettle or even a kayak! Imagine how much money we would all save if we didn’t feel like we each needed to buy and store the things we occasionally use. I think we could take it a step further and even put skills on there that we would be happy to share. We have everything we need right here in our community.

Some of my other favorite things in the borrowing/trade category is my Buy Nothing group on facebook and the library! The Library of Things is revolutionary. Check out your neighborhood library to see if the things you need are available! And of course thrifting. Thrifting is my therapy. I looked down yesterday and realized that my entire outfit was thrifted for less than $20!

What are some revolutionary ways you are living your every day life? Let us know in the comments and we can inspire each other!
