If it's not a "hell yes", it's a "no"
So many times I find that the reason my clients are overwhelmed is because they are saying “yes” to everything! They are overbooking their calendars to contort to their client’s schedules. They are scared that clients won't be able to wait that long and will just find someone else.
STEP 1:
Know exactly what it is going to take to make the kind of money you want. This comes from our P&L Xray. We reflect on your current finances and build a financial model for the future. Calculating exactly what it is going to take to build the business you want.
STEP 2:
Know exactly how much you are willing to work. If you don't want to work on Fridays, don't let some jackass sneak into your Friday just because YOU know you are technically available. You are booked. Yeah it's with camping, or time with your kid, but no one has to know that!
STEP 3:
Know exactly how booked out you are and exactly what your turnaround time is. I’ve got all sorts of tools up my sleeve for this, but a simple whiteboard or google cal will do. (But you know I love a well organized Gantt Chart!) Chances are, the overwhelm comes from not knowing exactly how booked out you are realistically. When we are confident about our turnaround times, and can communicate them clearly, there is peace and ease in the work!
Step 4:
Say “no!” Anything that is beyond your scope of work, not your ideal client, not your ideal timeline, just say “No!”
YOU CAN DO IT! comment below with one “no” you are going to try on!
